I didn't know Mr. John but I want to share a small bit of hope found at Rev 21:3,4. In just a little while longer and death will be no more.

I only met John in the early 1980s at the workshops that led to the development of the HCES, despite knowing of him for many years. My abiding impression is of his kindness and concern for others - he was much much more than a good professional but that as well of course.

My condolences to all his family - you must be very proud of him

John volunteered his time to serve as an advisor and mentor to me as I worked to develop the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives' Water Campaign. He shared his stories, knowledge and experience with me, and welcomed me into his home. John was the kindest of men and a wonderful role model. I am grateful to have known him; he will be missed.

Some people leave lasting impressions on the Earth even when passing... John is one if those. He is and always will be appreciated for his work. God bless.

All the members of the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council were saddened to hear the news of John's death and offer you our sincere condolences. John was one of the founders of the professional sector of water and sanitation in developing countries. We in the next generation are building on the work that John and his contemporaries started. I personally will retain treasured memories of his encouragement, warmth and enthusiastic support.
